Web design is all about information, so the design, really, should be built around content. Because of this, I can't judge your design, or give you any input further than that.
One thing I can add though, is that I feel the convention of separating everything onto a different page is counter productive when it comes to something 'simple' like a portfolio.
I mean, couldn't the content for 'about' and 'contact' be on the landing page along with a few features from your portfolio, with a link to the full portfolio?
